Dr. David Redish is a Distinguished McKnight Professor of neuroscience at the University of Minnesota and a poet and playwright. David’s science explores the processes of imagination and decision-making and seeks to understand how our different learning, memory, and decision-making systems interact to produce behavior. Most recently, Dr. Redish has been a leader in the new movement taking an engineer’s view on psychiatric and psychological dysfunction. Dr. Redish is a winner of numerous awards, and has published dozens of articles in scientific journals, as well as two books, most recently The Mind within the Brain: How we make decisions and how those decisions go wrong. He says that although it sounds like science fiction, our ability to read rat’s minds and listen to their dreams is no longer metaphor.
