Odd Socks is back! February 24 Curling and the Sonnet

The Gymnasium invites you to Odd Socks
a scintillating smash up of mismatched ideas

February 24       Curling and the Sonnetsocks:b:wclose

Join us Friday evening, February 24 for an exciting Odd Socks held in our newly spiffed up Studio 206. Two mismatched presenters will explain to us the mysteries of the sport of curling and the intricacies of the sonnet.

John Benton began curling with his family at the age of 6. He is the director of Curling Operations, Four Seasons Curling Club, U.S. Olympic Site. John will be explaining the game of curling; it’s unprecedented growth in the United States, and his experiences at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Mike Bazzett is the recipient of a 2017 NEA Fellowship in Poetry.  His debut collection, You Must Remember This, (Milkweed, 2014) received the Lindquist & Vennum Prize for Poetry. Mike will speak about how a sonnet is a circumscribed box designed to hold love, human consciousness, and infinity.
